Tonya Langdon is the new Band Director for Sunlake High School Bands and we are proud to have her. Previously, she was the Band and Chorus Director at Paul R. Smith Middle School in Holiday, FL. She is a graduate of the nationally recognized band program at Milford High School in Milford, OH, which inspired her participation in the drum and bugle corps activity. In high school, Tonya also participated in a WGI competition winter guard. At 16, Tonya began her drum corps career becoming a member of the Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps where she marched Mellophone. Since 2001, she has been involved in drum and bugle corps as both a member and a staff member. Tonya attended Bowling Green State University, in Bowling Green, Ohio, where she received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree and graduated cum laude. At BGSU, Tonya studied with Grammy Award and two time American Horn Competition first prize winner Dr. Andrew Pelletier. She played horn in the Concert Band, Horn Choir, Orchestra and a touring brass quintet while attending BGSU. Tonya has worked with numerous high school marching ensembles, as both a visual and brass instructor, in the Cincinnati, Toledo, and Tampa areas for the past 7 years. For the past two marching band seasons, Tonya has been a brass/visual instructor at J.W. Mitchell High School in New Port Richey, FL.
